Privacy
Updated October 10, 2026. This covers GyroGrade from this website and from the Mac App Store, and this website.
Your video stays on your computer
Stabilization, color and export all run locally. The app has no account, advertising or analytics, and it never uploads your footage, projects or LUT files. Ryan Smith Photography does not collect any data from the app.
What the app connects to
A few features use the internet. Each request sends ordinary connection details such as your IP address to the service named, and nothing that identifies you personally.
- Lens profiles. The app checks the official Gyroflow lens profile collection on GitHub for new profiles, and fetches profile ratings from the Gyroflow project (api.gyroflow.xyz).
- Rating or sharing a lens profile. Only when you choose to, the app sends that profile to the Gyroflow project. A profile you calibrate and choose to share includes the camera and lens details and any name or note you type.
- Update check (website edition only). At launch the app asks GitHub whether a newer release exists. The Mac App Store edition gets updates through the App Store instead.
Those services follow their own privacy policies: GitHub and Gyroflow.
Files on your Mac
Settings, recent files and logs are stored on your computer. In the App Store edition they live inside the app's sandbox, and the app can only open files and folders you pick.
